Leeches are not
bloodsuckers
Ribbon and Horse
leeches will not suck your blood. They have a small suction cup which
they use as a foot; this allows them to anchor themselves while
feeding. Ribbon leeches feed primarily at night when they feed on
mosquito larva and decaying organic matter and are rarely seen during
the daytime. Because leeches can be easily transported and require
little care, they have surpassed the night crawler as a premium
walleye and bass bait.
